PLAYER'S GUIDE
Welcome to the world’s favorite game! You might have been playing soccer for a while now or you may be new to the sport. People like you are playing soccer all across the USA and the world. US Youth Soccer provides for you here some guides and tips on how to play the game.

It has been said that soccer is a simple game, but those of us who play the game know that it can be quite challenging. What you do on and off the field will affect how well you play. Both being a good player on your own and being a good teammate are important. Respecting your opponents, teammates, referees, coaches, club and the game is crucial to your enjoyment. Demonstrating fair play will earn you respect from your teammates and opponents.

SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING
The club will begin its supplemental training on April 16 at the Concordia University training fields in Ann Arbor. The Wednesday sessions will focus on player development of all premier level and select level teams playing on the full sized field. The Friday sessions will be open to all club members and will include goalkeeper training.

The Friday training sessions will be split into two groups for more efficient training. The first session will be geared to U12 and younger, while the later session will be geared to U13 and older.

Our directors of coaching, Dan Dalzochio (Girls) and Donovan Bowerbank (Boys), will also take this opportunity to identify players who would be good candidates to participate in the Olympic Development Program.

Please check our e-Calendar for the weekly training schedule.

YOUTH ACADEMY

The youth academy will be geared to players between the ages of four and 8 years old and will begin officially in the fall of 2008. However, we will be offering an introductory program as part of the Friday training sessions at Grace Bible Church in Ann Arbor. These sessions will begin on April 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

Families with younger siblings should contact the club coordinator, Van Cowan, for more
information and player registration.

MICHIGAN UNITED not ANN ARBOR UNITED
Ann Arbor USA has changed its name to Michigan United Futbol Club.  This organization has moved its operation from under the AAYSA umbrella to Dexter Soccer Club.

We wish to state emphatically that there is NO connection between Michigan United Futbol Club and Ann Arbor United Soccer Club. There are many many names and colors to choose from, but choosing names and colors that are similar to a club in the same area is an attempt to confuse the soccer enthusiasts about such an association.

ANN ARBOR UNITED SUMMER CAMP

The club will be offering a summer camp beginning on July 28 at the Eastern Michigan University Intramural Softball fields. The goal of these camps is to help our members prepare for the upcoming fall season, as well as the ODP tryouts which will be held the second weekend of August. Some teams will begin their regular season in mid-August, while others will be preparing for pre-season tournaments.

Registration will take place at the conclusion of the tryouts for 2008-2009. More information will be available under the Camps section of our website.

TOURNAMENTS
The club will begin identifying in-state and out-of-state tournaments throughout the year for teams to participate based on their level of experience. The Directors of Coaching will be working with the teams to facilitate group participation at as many tournaments as possible. Group participation will continue to promote club and community strength.

ANN ARBOR UNITED TRYOUTS
The 2008-2009 Tryout schedule is now now available on the website.  Please note that the first date is June 15, 2008 and will be held at Concordia University.
