History
Fortis Cadere Cedere Non Potest - the brave may
fall, but never yield. We may lose the game, but we will not quit trying
to win the game.
Ann Arbor United Soccer Club has promoted the growth
of adult and youth soccer throughout the Ann Arbor area. This active
and dynamic organization remains committed to its founding principles:
to teach the game of soccer; to help each player reach his or her highest
potential; to build a better community through the active involvement
of our teams, coaches and athletes.
Ann Arbor United was originally formed
as a club for adult players in 1983. The men’s team has won
championships in the Michigan Soccer League, the Great Lakes Men's Soccer
League, the Michigan-Ontario Soccer League and the Southeast Michigan
Premier Soccer League. The team also has represented the State of Michigan
in national tournaments.
The Ann Arbor United adult women’s team
won the league in its first three regular seasons of competition in the
spring of 2001, 2002 and 2003. They also have won the National Indoor
Tournament in 2003.
The adult club members are active participants in
the local soccer community. In addition to serving as coaches and assistants
at public and private schools in Ann Arbor, they also are working with
the club’s
youth teams and are licensed through state, national or international
soccer organizations.
The youth organization of Ann Arbor United enjoyed
its first full season of competition in the fall of 2000. This rapidly
expanding organization currently has over 45 teams (both male and female)
competing at the Premier, Select and Recreation levels.
